Simon Watts Joinery’s Role in the Transformation of Parsonage Farm

At Simon Watts Joinery, we were proud to partner with DRG Interior and Building Solutions on this redevelopment. Acting as the principal contractor, DRG led the full transformation of the estate, and we were brought on board to deliver the bespoke joinery elements that would define the character and quality of the interiors and exteriors.

From the outset, the vision for Parsonage Farm was clear: a high-end holiday retreat that married contemporary comfort with rural heritage. DRG’s aim was to create a ready-to-let estate that offered Cornish-style luxury in the heart of the Welsh countryside. For us at Simon Watts Joinery, that meant bringing warmth, craftsmanship, and timeless quality through every piece we produced.

Every building on the estate farmhouse and outbuildings alike was in significant disrepair. As DRG undertook the structural transformations, we focused on creating bespoke joinery features that would elevate the interiors while remaining true to the site’s historic roots.

Our work included:

  • Handcrafted Iroko windows and doors
  • Custom American white oak skirting, architraves, and window boards, made to measure and in keeping with the property’s rustic charm
  • External Iroko gates, built with traditional joinery techniques

These elements were not only central to the property’s aesthetic appeal, but they were also critical in achieving the high-end finish required for the holiday let market.

Working closely with DRG, we ensured that all joinery met strict safety, fire, and environmental standards required for holiday letting. This included fire-rated door linings where needed and sustainably sourced materials to align with local planning and conservation regulations.

The success of Parsonage Farm was rooted in collaboration. Our joinery work dovetailed with the wider construction and design efforts, including:

  • Paint-to-order kitchens with quartz worktops
  • Burnt larch feature walls and ceilings
  • Interior styling by Emily May Interiors
  • State-of-the-art M&E installations and underfloor heating

Together, these elements delivered a finish that is both luxurious and grounded in natural materials.

Some buildings where our joinery played a central role:

The Cart Barn

  • Two-bedroom unit with reverse living layout
  • External doors and windows to frame views of the countryside

Parsonage Farmhouse

  • Five bedrooms with skirting throughout
  • Games room and living spaces enhanced by our bespoke finishes
  • Outdoor gates and wood detailing that reinforce the property’s rustic-luxe identity

Parsonage Farm is now a fully operational, high-spec holiday destination that balances modern luxury with traditional charm. At Simon Watts Joinery, we’re proud to have contributed to a project that not only meets market demand but also respects the heritage of the Welsh landscape.

This collaboration with DRG Interior and Building Solutions has been a true showcase of how thoughtful joinery can bring warmth, value, and distinction to large-scale developments. For us, it’s more than just craftsmanship, it’s about creating spaces that people remember.
