Welcoming Jason Chaplin to Simon Watts Joinery

We’re delighted to announce that Jason Chaplin has joined Simon Watts Joinery in a senior leadership role, while also becoming the new Head of Commercial at our sister company, DRG.

Jason brings over 30 years of industry experience, spanning commercial strategy, quantity surveying, and senior project leadership across a wide range of sectors.

His career began in joinery, where he first trained and qualified before progressing into commercial estimation, quantity surveying, and senior management. This rare combination of hands-on craftsmanship and commercial expertise makes him uniquely equipped to support both SWJ and DRG.

What truly distinguishes Jason is his approach. He is passionate about continuous improvement, lean construction methods, and collaborative procurement practices that enhance quality and create value for clients.

He is equally at home leading commercial forums, mentoring surveyors, negotiating contracts, or bringing teams together around shared goals. His calm, focused style of leadership will play a central role in supporting growth across both businesses.

As Simon Watts Joinery and DRG continue to grow side by side, Jason’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us evolve, innovate, and strengthen delivery at every level.
